How to Crop a Bed

September 2, 2010 § Leave a comment

Why would you even want to crop a bed? Well, to look inviting of course. A bed with two pillows stuck at the end is not very appealing as you can see from the photo below. Adding some (a lot) of pillows and a throw makes me want to curl up and read a book. Another reason to crop the bed is to fit it to the scale of a space. King size beds especially look monstrously large in a room. Adding pillows and a blanket or throw at the end make the bed appear less vast and more inviting. For the cropped bed, I added Euro size pillows at the back for height and support, then came the long body pillow (an inexpensive high end look), pillows to match the sheets, pillows to match the comforter, and two throw pillows. Remember you don’t have to spend a fortune on the pillow inserts that no one sleeps on, the inexpensive ones work great because the are firm and hold their shape.

Folding the sheet and comforter over also shorten the bed and provide contrast of color and pattern. I promise it is not harder to fold the bedding in the morning than pulling it straight up. Want something completely different? You can easily change the look with a new throw, and sheet color such as cream. (These photos where taken with my new phone as a test. Let me know what you think.)
